  Elicia M. Goodsoldier, Chinook Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, is a candidate for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) national Board of Directors.  If appointed on June 20, Goodsoldier, who currently sits on NAMI's state Board of Directors, would become the first Native female board member on the NAMI national board.  Goodsoldier's candidacy is significant in light of health disparities across the diverse Native populations.

In Colorado, 940 people died by suicide in 2009, exceeding the number of deaths caused by motor vehicle accidents. Last year in Boulder County 50 persons died of suicide. Many of these deaths could have been prevented if people had received the help they needed.
