Boulder County’s Sheriff Office Issues Commendation to MHP RN and Prescriber
Jennifer Harrod, Advanced Practice Nurse and Mental Health Prescriber, has received a commendation from Boulder County’s Sheriff Office for her exemplary work providing mental health care to inmates at the Boulder County Jail. In her role, Jennifer oversees mental health care and medication management for inmates on the mental health list. She works closely with the jail’s Medicated Assisted Treatment team to ensure correct medications are distributed, adjust medications that are contraindicated with MAT and assess inmates for Vivitrol injections. Her dedication and excellent work has helped reduce inmates’ aggression and decompensation, ensures medications and care are provided in a timely manner, and improves the safety of inmates and jail staff.
The commendation also notes Jennifer often goes above and beyond to take care of inmates, including adjusting her schedule to stay after-hours to talk with their parents and families, being available 24/7 to answer questions or attend to cases, and even work with out-of-state pharmacies to ensure continuity of care.
“Jennifer is truly an asset to the Medical Unit and to the Boulder County Jail,” says Melanie Dreiling, RN, BSN, CCHP-RN, Health Services Administrator at Boulder County’s Sheriff Office. “She exemplifies the compassion, dependability, and resourcefulness that are character traits we value in Boulder County. She has earned the award of Sheriff’s Commendation and we are lucky to have her in our Jail.”
Mental Health Partners expresses its congratulations and appreciation for Jennifer – she is a value to our team and the community!
