Julie Tu
Julie began work in human services in 2016, serving as a DSP (Direct Support Professional) in a group home for adults with developmental disabilities. From there, she worked as an instructor at a day program teaching art, language, technology, and cooking classes for the same population while also offering private in-home care to clients. Later, she acted as Lead DSP, then Residential Program Manager, at different organizations. Julie took her passion for advocacy and person-centered care to Colorado Recovery's Balsam House in 2020, working with clients with severe mental illness to support maximizing their potential in a hospital-alternative setting. As of July 2024, with extreme gratitude, Julie continues her work with mental health and substance use as Criminal Justice Case Manager at Clinica Family Health & Wellness. Outside of work, Julie spends her time doting on her dog, attending poetry readings, painting, camping, photographing, and roller blading.
